Wait, I'm not currently enrolled in school. Can I still apply for this scholarship?
Yes! As long as you intend to enroll as a part-time or full-time student in a certificate, undergraduate, or graduate degree program at an accredited community college or two-year or four-year college/university in the Fall of 2020, you're eligible to apply! On the application, for current school, please write in the name of the last school you attended. For grade level, write in "12". For current GPA, enter your GPA from your most recent tenure at the school. If that's not applicable, simply enter 3.0 in the GPA box and then explain your situation in the next box.
I'm currently in grad school. Can I still apply for this scholarship?

What’s the deal with the recommendations?
One non-family recommendation is REQUIRED in order to complete your application. This person should be a manager, peer teacher, coach, administrator, or mentor who is able to attest to how you have demonstrated great character and leadership. Your non-family recommender will be asked to fill out a brief form and provide a recommendation letter of up to 400 words.
Please do not ask your friends to write on your behalf. You will have the opportunity to submit one additional recommendation, but it is entirely optional.
How should I send in recommendations?
We can ONLY receive recommendations that come through our online recommendation form system. On the Request Recommendations page, you will be prompted to enter the information of your desired recommender(s). As soon as you enter them into the form, we will automatically send them an email with a link to an online recommendation form that they have to fill out on your behalf.
Who should I approach for recommendations?
The strongest recommenders are people who are well informed about your leadership roles, community projects, and educational goals. This should be someone who knows you well but more importantly can attest to the actions you have taken to improve your community, your team, your school, and/or workplace. Please ask your recommender to speak about their experience with you and their thoughts about your work, your impact, and your collaboration with the community, if possible. They should be as specific as possible. We suggest that you send your recommender the judging criteria.
When are recommendations due?
Recommendation forms MUST be submitted by May 4th at 5 PM EST. If we receive an application without a completed recommendation form (by the deadline), we cannot consider it, unfortunately.
I accidentally entered the wrong email address for my recommender. How can I edit this?
On the Request Recommendations page, click “…” next to the incorrect email address, in the dropdown menu, select “Withdraw Request”. Then you can make a new request by clicking “Request a Recommendation” again with the correct information.
Help! I'm a recommender and my recommendation request link isn't working.
Please contact the Survey Monkey support team at https://footlocker.smapply.io/helpdesk/form/other/. If you need more help, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do I need a nomination to apply?
Nope, you don't need a nomination to apply. Our nomination tool is simply used to get the word out about the scholarship. In fact, when we evaluate a scholarship application, we have no way of knowing if they were nominated or not. BUT do keep in mind that you do need a non-family recommender to submit a recommendation form on your behalf.
I need to change the email associated with my account!
To change the email, log into your account, click your name in the upper right corner. From the dropdown menu, select "My Account". From there, you can edit your email address. Watch out for a verification email from the system to confirm the change.

How do I go back and edit my application?

What are the essay questions?
For this scholarship, you will be required to answer the two essay questions below.
1. You don’t have to be an athlete to “love the game.” Our associates who “love the Game” demonstrate a unique personal, business, and people passion for what they do each and every day. How do you show your "love for the game?" Your answer may include your leadership roles and commitment at work, in school, to other organizations, volunteer experiences, and any other projects or community involvement you’d like to share! Suggested length: 400 words.
2. At Foot Locker, Inc., our goal is to empower our associates to perform to their greatest ability. What empowers you and pushes you to reach your full potential? Describe a defining moment in your life that has helped to shape your dreams and plans for the future. Be sure to include your academic/career goals and any challenges you’ve faced, or are currently facing, and how they have shaped your aspirations. Suggested length: 400 words.
What happens if my computer crashes while I am working on the application?
Yikes! Computer crashes are the worst. The application site constantly autosaves your progress. This said, to protect your application from being lost, make sure to FIRST write your essays in Word or Google Docs and then copy/paste them into the online application. The application site autosaves your answers but we also recommend you periodically hit the "Save & Continue Editing" button (at the bottom of the application pages) to save your changes.
Ok, I submitted, what now?
First, give yourself a high five for a job well done. We plan to announce the 20 winners as early as June/July 2020.
How are we being judged?
You will be judged by a team of expert judges—made up of DoSomething staff—who will be reviewing candidates to make sure they embody qualities outlined in the judging criteria. For more information about how applicants will be considered, please read through the judging criteria.
